TRAVERSE CITY (WKZO) -- The state Court of Appeals is setting the stage for the possible re-sentencing of a Traverse City man in the murder of 16-year-old Carly Lewis.  The panel ordered a trial judge to explain why he exceeded guidelines in sentencing Robert Schwander to more than 40 years in prison.

Schwander, the 19-year-old son of a Traverse County sheriff's deputy, was convicted of second-degree murder in the case.  At the sentencing, the presiding judge in the case had cited the particularly cruel nature of the 2011 killing.
