PORTAGE (WKZO) -- With the winter now here, those in the health profession have some advice for staying healthy. Pharmacist Derek Quinn, with Westlake Drug in Portage, says that washing your hands multiple times a day is key. It doesn't matter what kind of soap you use, either, as even the FDA is doubting if anti bacterial soap is really necessary.
Also, if you do get sick, don't stop taking antibiotics before you've used all of the pills in the bottle. You'll never get better if you just stop taking them because you feel less sick, and doctors hate it when you do that.
Quinn additionally says that it's essential to get a flu shot, even if you don't think you'll get the flu. He says that by doing so, you're actually doing a favor for those around you, especially kids and the elderly.
