KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Police in Kalamazoo have arrested a suspect who stole some Christmas presents from a home. The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety says that officers were sent out on a report of a man standing in a driveway with a gun on Thursday a little after nine PM in the one thousand block of Sherwood Avenue.
When police arrived, they were told that the man in the driveway had opened a wrapped Christmas gift before running off with a bag full of them when confronted by a witness. Officers determined that the suspect had broken into an enclosed porch nearby and stole the presents.
Not long after that, an officer for the Kalamazoo Township Police Department spotted the suspect in the 15 hundred block of Humphrey Street and gave chase. The man was caught trying to scale a fence at the Kalamazoo County Juvenile Home and arrested. The stolen presents were all returned to their rightful owner. Prosecutors are now preparing charges.
