Snyder: New energy policies should focus on new goals

LANSING (WKZO) -- Governor Rick Snyder has unveiled some guidelines for forming energy policy in Michigan.

Over the last year, the Snyder administration and experts in energy policy have been taking public comment on suggestions regarding energy issues, as well as holding a series of forums around the state.  Snyder now says it's time to begin shaping new goals, saying that with progress made in recent years, 2025 should be a target year for new goals in decreasing use of some fossil fuels and increasing use of renewable energy sources.

The governor says, moving forward, all policies will be crafted around the four tenants of adaptability, reliability, affordability, and environmental protection.  He also notes that off-shore wind appears, for the moment, to be the state's largest source of renewable energy.
