DETROIT (WKZO) -- General Motors made headlines last week with the announcement of the company's next CEO, and employees are feeling positive as they wait for her to start. Head of Consumer Affairs James Bell says that Mary Barra is already generating enthusiasm with her calls for a higher standard of vehicles.
Barra has been with GM since 1980, having most recently served as a vice president. However, she was once an engineer, so her calls for exciting new cars hold more weight with many in the company. Bell says that GM is looking to a future of even better automobiles, noting that this year, the company has three vehicles nominated for Best Car or Truck at the auto show to be held in Detroit next month.
The North American International Auto Show opens to the public on January 18th. Mary Barra steps into her new job with GM next year.
