KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Matthew Stinson thought it was a practical joke when got a call that he had just won an automobile, but it was no joke.
Stinson can use the car, because he commutes daily from his home in Kalamazoo to his job in Battle Creek.
He was one of over 77-hundred local people who were entered into the United Way’s fall incentive sweepstakes.
He will get his choice of a number of vehicles offered by area dealerships, up to a value of 30-thousand dollars.
All it took was a new donation of $50, or an increase of $50 from last year’s contribution to the United Way to qualify for the drawing.
United Way President Michael Larson says the annual campaign is about 87% of the way to its 14.5-million dollar regional goal.
So far they have raised 12.7-million from donors in the Kalamazoo/Battle Creek area.
He was awarded the Car at Saturday night’s Wings Hockey Game.
