LANSING (WKZO) -- The beer industry in Michigan has been growing quickly in recent years, and state lawmakers are doing what they can to encourage it. State Representative Greg MacMaster says that, among other things, the Michigan law on beer makers has been loosened to allow micro brewers to produce more beer without violating the statute.
MacMaster says that so far this year, state lawmakers have changed to rules to let Michigan microbreweries produce and serve twice as much product than they could in previous years. He thinks that's a good example of government getting out of the way.
MacMaster adds that the craft beer explosion in the state has happened everywhere in Michigan, from the southwest corner to Detroit, and all the way to the Upper Peninsula.
