VANBUREN COUNTY (WKZO) -- A Probation violator from Marcellus who thought he could out-run Deputies in a beat up old pick-up truck is back in the Van Buren County jail this morning, facing a list of new charges.
Deputies tried to initially pull over his 1996 GMC Sonoma because it had an expired plate and a cracked windshield. The driver bolted off at a high rate of speed, driving up and down several county roads, blowing through stop signs and driving recklessly trying to shake the patrol cars.
He eventually drove the truck into a grape vineyard and jumped out. A 17-year old girl from Kalamazoo also jumped out and ran but was quickly captured.
He had to be tracked down with a K-9.
They found him hiding under a log.
