OSHTEMO (WKZO) -- Icy roads may have been a factor in a crash that killed two teenagers from Otsego Tuesday morning.
Kalamazoo County Sheriff's deputies believe that 17-year-old Anneka Vels was behind the wheel with 13-year-old sibling Landon Vels, both from Otsego, around 7:40 a.m. when their minivan slid off the roadway in the 9000-block of West G Avenue in Oshtemo. The vehicle burst into flames and both teens died as a result of the crash.
It's believed that snow and ice on the roadway was a factor in the crash. The case currently remains under investigation.
