PORTAGE (WKZO) -- Portage Public Safety officers responded to the intersection of Sprinkle Road and East Centre Avenue shortly before 8 a.m. Tuesday on a report of a traffic collision involving a car and a semi hauling asphalt.
On arrival, officers found the crash blocking one southbound lane of Sprinkle Road and two eastbound lanes of Centre. The 27-year-old Portage man driving the car was taken to Borgess Hospital with head injuries, but was last listed in stable condition. The driver of the semi was not injured.
An initial investigation determined that the car was turning left under a yellow light into the oncoming path of the semi. None of the semi's contents were spilled and alcohol is not believed to have been a factor in the crash that remains under investigation.
