MUSKEGON (WKZO) -- Two Muskegon County women are headed to jail for stealing money in a scam related to the disappearance of Jessica Heeringa of Norton Shores.
Susan Adams was sentenced to three months in jail and Joann Vaughan was given 45 days in jail this week. The two collected donations outside a Wal-Mart in Muskegon County, telling people the money was going to a fund to benefit Heeringa's three-year-old son.
Heeringa vanished in April. Norton Shores police investigators believe she was abducted from the Exxon gas station where she worked. Their best lead involves a man with a silver mini-van, but so far no tips have led to a break in the case.
A reward of at least 15-thousand dollars has been offered for information leading to Heeringa's whereabouts.
