Lieutenant Governor Calley backs Michigan Medicaid expansion

LANSING (WKZO) -- One important vote is set to be cast in favor of expanding Medicaid in Michigan.  MIRS News reports that Lieutenant Governor Brian Calley said Friday on public affairs program "Off The Record" that he is prepared to cast the deciding vote on Medicaid expansion in the Michigan Senate if the chamber's vote comes to a tie.

Calley says that Governor Rick Snyder's administration is unanimous in its support of expanding the program to hundreds of thousands more Michigan residents as health care reform efforts continue.  However, he added, he does not think a vote will actually come to a tie.

Snyder has been campaigning across the state in recent weeks to gather support for the Healthy Michigan initiative as parts of the federal Affordable Care Act are about to take effect.
