KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Central City Parking has been relieved of its duties, at least when it comes to issuing parking tickets or collecting fees in the city’s neighborhoods.
They will still be working the meters and the ramps in the Central Business District, but this spring, City Commissioners decided not to renew their contract to also issue tickets outside the CBD, because staff determined they could save about 130-thousand dollars a year if they did it in-house.
The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety will be assuming those duties.
Payment options will also change.Parking ticket fees can now be paid in person by cash or check only at the Public Safety building at 150 East Crosstown or at Kalamazoo City Hall.Fees can also be paid by check only via mail. Credit card payments can be paid by phone by calling 1-866-343-2980 or they can be paid online at ParkingTicketPayment.com/Kalamazoo.
