Michigan State Police Officer hospitalized following traffic crash

DECATUR (WKZO) -- Michigan State Police are investigating a traffic accident that hospitalized an off duty officer Monday night.

Motor Carrier Officer Dennis Myers was headed westbound on County Road 352 west of Decatur around 11:30 p.m. when his Honda Civic drifted onto the right shoulder over the roadway before crossing the centerline and overturning on the other side of the road.  Myers had suffered cardiac arrest and emergency medical personnel were able to re-establish a pulse before taking him to Bronson Hospital where he remains in critical condition.

Myers joined the Michigan State Police twelve years ago and was recognized for outstanding achievements in 2010 when he was honored as the Michigan State Police Motor Carrier Officer of the Year.  He has served at the Paw Paw Post since 2007.
