RICHLAND (WKZO) -- The Wyoming man who drowned in Gull Lake Saturday morning has been identified.
Kalamazoo County Sheriff's deputies say that 34-year-old Evert Chong Tan was driving a boat that suddenly accelerated, throwing he and a passenger into the water. Neither were wearing flotation devices at the time.
A nearby fisherman and lifeguard from the Gull Lake Yacht Club was able to rescue 30-year-old Mary Linh Nguyen, but Tan could not be located. A Kalamazoo County Rescue and Recovery team found Tan around 4 p.m. approximately 200-yards from shore.
An autopsy is planned in Lansing while an investigation continues.
