Butterfly sanctuary being built in Kalamazoo

KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- The Kalamazoo Area Wild Ones, a conservation group, is working to build a butterfly sanctuary in the Edison neighborhood.  It's at the former site of the Deja Vu strip club, and the Wild Ones' Dave Wendling says they're using plant life that attracts monarch butterflies, in particular.

The Wild Ones are working with a group dedicated to attracting businesses to the area, along with with an organization that aims to preserve the monarch butterfly, which has seen its population dip to an all time low.

The new butterfly sanctuary is at 1311 Portage Street.
