Frank Beckmann, radio play-by-play annoucner for the Michigan Wolverines football team, is set to retire at the end of the 2013 seaon. Beckmann has been the Wolverines play-by-play announcer for 33 years. He took over in 1981 for the legendary announcer Bob Ufer.
Beckmann also served time announcing on the radio for the Detroit Lions and Detroit Tigers during his broadcasting career.
Beckmann has been part of many fantasic moments in Michigan football history including their 1997 National Championship season. Other famous games has Beckmann called: Michgan's comback from 28 down vs Minnesota in 2003 (38-35), Michigan's 3OT win over MSU in 2004 (45-37), Michigan's 2008 comeback win vs Wisconsin, Michigan's 500th game at the Big House (27-25), Michigan's high scoring 3OT win over Illinois in 2010 (67-65), and Michigan's last minute comeback vs Notre Dame and the Big House's first night game in 2011 (35-31)
