Detroit, MI (WKZO) – Jose Valverde has been released by the Detroit Tigers the team announced via Twitter on Wednesday afternoon. Valverde had been with the Tigers Triple-A affiliate Toledo Mud Hens after being designated for assignment on June 27th.
With the Mud Hens, Valverde recorded seven saves while posting an ERA of 4.09 and a WHIP of 1.82 in 11 innings.
In 20 appearances with the Tigers in 2013, Valverde had a 5.59 ERA and a 1.24 WHIP with nine saves in 12 chances.
Valverde is now free to sign with any team that will have him.
