KALAMAZOO TOWNSHIP (WKZO) -- An elderly Kalamazoo woman is dead after a violent collision in front of Borgess Hospital. Kalamazoo Township Police say that 86-year-old Joyce Ann Congdon was headed towards Kalamazoo on Gull Road when she struck the rear of a vehicle stopped at the red light at Gull and Shaffer just before 10 a.m. Saturday.
The woman’s car rolled on a short distance and into a tree on the north side of Gull. She was transported to Borgess where she died a short time later.
The 35-year-old man who was in the other vehicle got out and ran away, even though the crash was not his fault. It would be discovered after he was located that he was driving on a suspended license. He will be charged for that and for leaving the scene of an accident.
