SOUTH HAVEN (WKZO) -- It was just a horrific senseless crash that killed four people near Hartford, and now the woman that police say was responsible will be tried.
26-year-old Ashley Baker of Waterviliet has been formally charged in South Haven District Court with four counts of driving under the influence of drugs causing death.
Four Churchwomen from the Keeler Baptist church, including the Pastor’s wife died instantly when police say Baker’s van slid thru a stop sign on an Icy Van Buren County intersection on February 16th, forcing their Buick across the centerline into the path of a pickup which sheared off the top of their car.
Celeste Phillips, Lou Anne Holcomb and Charlotte Sieber, all from Hartford and Kathryn Maya of Kalamazoo died on their way home from a dinner trip to northern Indiana.
Prosecutors say the drug in question in Baker’s system was marijuana.
She faces a 15 year felony. Bond was set at 25-thousand dollars.
