PORTAGE (WKZO) -- It's called "Honor Flight," a documentary about a program of the same name that offers to send World War II vets to the war memorial in Washington D.C., and it'll be screened near Kalamazoo in the coming days.
Renee Riddle, with Honor Flight the program, says many WWII vets never even got to see the day when the D.C. memorial was completed in 2004, so the organization has been finding them around the county and taking them there. She describes the experience as a moving gesture to say, "Thank you for your sacrifice."
Now, the movie about Honor Flight is being screened at the Portage Celebration Cinema on Monday. It'll also to be shown in Three Rivers on Saturday, and Battle Creek on May first. Here's a link to all the scheduled showings: www.honorflightthemovie.com/see-the-film/ .
