LANSING (WKZO) -- The state House will soon take up legislation tying welfare benefits for families with children to whether the kids are attending school. Representative Al Pscholka of Stevensville is the sponsor and says parents can get back on the welfare rolls after their child has three straight weeks of attendance at school. He adds the bill doesn't guarantee anyone a better life, but does "incentivize their parents by helping to ensure" they have an opportunity to receive an education.
