KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Communities in Schools Kalamazoo works with county students to better prepare them for college by the time they're old enough to utilize the Kalamazoo Promise...but another thing the organization does is provide health services.
Donna Carroll is the Director of Health Initiatives for Communities in Schools. She says a partnership with Kalamazoo County means nurses and dentists can be sent out to local schools. They have a mobile dental lab that makes rounds at KPS, giving out examinations to the kids, and then coming back to do restorative work, if it's needed.
Communities in Schools also will communicate with parents if a child is found to have something like head lice. You can find out more about Communities in Schools by going to http://ciskalamazoo.org.wowhostservices.net/ .
