KALAMAZOO (WKZO) – Seven days after the Boston Marathon bombings rocked the country to its core, communities all over the United States gathered together to reach out to the people of Boston and raise money for One Fund Boston to help the victims in their recovery. Tens of thousands of people in cities across the country participated in tonight’s nationwide initiative.
Last Tuesday, Brett Beier organized a Solidarity Run in Kalamazoo to show community support in the wake of the tragedy in Boston. Runners of all ages and skill levels gathered again Monday in Bronson Park donning their “Runners for Boston” shirts to take on the three-mile course.
Rob Lillie of Gazelle Sports says it’s important for the running community to continue their normal routines, and coming together to support the people of Boston helps in the rebuilding process.
The Kalamazoo 2013 Marathon is set for May 5th. Stay with WKZO for full marathon coverage.
