GRAND RAPIDS (WKZO) -- As flooding around Grand Rapids got worse over the weekend, the Red Cross stepped in to help some of those who were affected. The organization's Kelly Hudson says that many homes were totally surrounded by water, forcing their residents to flee.
She says the Red Cross is seeing a growing number of people showing up to its offices. The organization is running several shelters near the affected flood areas.
She says the Red Cross is also giving out clean up kits to people whose homes were damaged by the flooding. They contain things like a five gallon bucket, sponges, mops, and bleach. Hudson also notes these things are pretty expensive, and you can make a donation to help out at www.RedCross.org .
