KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- The American Civil Liberties Union's Southwestern Michigan branch will be holding its annual meeting in Kalamazoo on Tuesday. At the Fetzer Center at six PM, the organization will have speakers remind supporters of the work it does to protect civil liberties and free speech.
ACLU attorney Miriam Aukerman says its work isn't always in the form of lawsuits, either. She says the ACLU also tries to stage innovative media campaigns, and engage state and local governments on issues of concern.
Such tactics will be the topic of discussion at Tuesday's meeting. The ACLU will also go over the cases it's fought in southwest Michigan in the past year.
