LANSING (WKZO) -- State Senator Rick Jones has introduced legislation that would stop the Michigan Lottery for moving ahead with plans to allow online lotto ticket sales. He says the idea struck him as dangerous as soon as he heard of it.
Jones, a former sheriff, says that letting people buy lottery tickets at home with a credit card is going to result in more addiction, embezzlement, and huge credit card bills. Plus, he says brick and mortar stores that currently sell lottery tickets will lose out.
Jones hopes to get a committee hearing on his bill to stop the online sales soon, as the Lottery is planning to launch the online ticket sales by the end of the year.
