KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- A Postal Worker caught in the home of a co-worker has been formally charged. Noah Buist faces first degree home invasion and possession of burglary tools after he was caught hiding in her Texas Township home by her boyfriend, a Public Safety Officer. Buist reportedly had a knife and duct tape with him when he was captured.
Police say he was infatuated with Laura Bolen, and spent some time going through her place, even bringing a treat for her dog. He had initially been charged with stalking, but they apparently don't have enough evidence of that yet to make the charge.
Police say he tried and failed to break into several windows, so he did an internet search on using a credit card to slip a lock, and that’s how he got in.
Detectives also claim Buist wanted to swap out the battery in the GPS device he had attached to her car.
He has no previous record but because of the nature of the crime, he is being held in the Kalamazoo County Jail on a quarter million dollars bond.
