KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- There had been some faint hope back in December that the new operators of the Rave would be showing films by now, but it’s going to take the new tenants, the Alamo Drafthouse longer than that to remodel and open.
They plan to serve up meals and alcohol along with the latest films.
By every indication, it should be worth the wait. Tim League, one of the founders of the Texas based theatre chain was in Kalamazoo yesterday for business meetings and to begin plans for the décor. He says they are thinking about a Mid-century modern theme that is reflected in the posters on the walls and he says they may even work it into the grand opening.
They will be adding tables and a kitchen and a bar. He says they like to half at least half the taps serving local beers when available. That was why they were at Bell’s last night doing “research”.
He says he doesn’t want to be pinned down on an opening date because plans often go awry but they are tentatively looking at late summer.
