KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Kalamazoo Public Safety's identified a suspect 1993 cold case homicide.

Fifty-nine-year-old Lois Cox of Kalamazoo disappeared on October 20th, 1993 from the 900-block of Staples Street and she was found dead of gunshot wounds in her vehicle in the 300-block of South Main Street in Three Rivers six days later.  Despite the efforts of investigators with several law enforcement agencies, the trail eventually went cold.

In 2012, Kalamazoo Public Safety and the Three Rivers Police Department re-opened the case to try to identify just who was responsible for Cox's death.  On Thursday, the Kalamazoo County Prosecutor's Office issued a two-count felony warrant for Felony Murder and Open Murder against 43-year-old Grady Shields of Kalamazoo.

Shields was was found to already be incarcerated for an unrelated crime by the Michigan Department of Corrections.  He will be transported back to Kalamazoo for  arraignment on April 24th.

The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety is asking that anyone with further information on the case contact them either directly or through Silent Observer.
