BATTLE CREEK (WKZO) -- State Police are being asked to investigate a Battle Creek Police officer who allegedly showed up to work drunk Saturday night.
Chief Jackie Hampton has confirmed that he has put an officer on administrative leave and he says that an internal investigation is also underway.
TV-8 is reporting that Officer Jennifer Appl was required to take a breathalyzer when she reported to work Saturday night, because she smelled of alcohol. State Police will be looking into whether she was legally drunk and drove to work in that condition, or was armed at the time.
There have been previous alcohol related issues involving officer Appl, including the much publicized drunk driving allegations involving officer William Gensch last year.
It was her car police say he smashed up last July 31st. She was a passenger and was also allegedly drunk, but off-duty. She was not charged at the time.
