LANSING (WKZO) -- Seasonally unadjusted unemployment rates were steady in most of the state's 17 major labor markets in February.
The Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget says total employment levels were up in every region, and compared to 2012, the jobless rate fell in every market. Compared to a year ago, the jobless rate in the Battle Creek area dropped from 8.1 to 7.3-percent, and the Kalamazoo area saw a drop from 8.3 to 6.7-percent, while Benton Harbor's rate fell from 10.3 to 9.7-percent.
Compared to January, the largest drop in unemployment was in the Detroit-Warren-Livonia area at 1.1-percent. The rate went up a 0.5-percent in Northeast Lower Michigan.
