KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Another deadline has come and gone for hundreds of homeowners in Kalamazoo trying to save their homes from foreclosure, and a majority succeeded.
County Treasurer Mary Balkema says April First was the day that homeowners with taxes in arrears had to be paid up for at least the last three years plus fines and penalties.
271 property owners made it and 222 did not. Some of those who made it, did so with special grants designed to help the those who have suffered set backs, keep their homes.
The properties that will now revert to county ownership will be put up for sale at a foreclosure auction, scheduled for August 22nd at the Expo Center.Balkema updated County Commissioners at their regular Committee of the Whole Meeting yesterday.
