KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Kalamazoo got mobilized last night as well over 100 volunteers turned out to get a campaign rolling to stop the EPA from capping the Allied Paper dump and leaving a permanent ecological no-man’s land on the city’s south side.

Last evening after initial presentations on the history of the dump, City Commissioner Don Cooney, who has been organizing protests for over 40-years delineated goals, picked targets, determined strategies and set up committees to immediately begin working toward the goals.

You will be hearing a lot from this group over the next two months as they try to mobilize the entire community to take a stand to head off what could be an ecological and economic disaster for the city.
