MINNEAPOLIS, MN (1660 THE FAN) - The AL Central race is a lot tighter than the Tigers may have wanted...but that's what happens when you don't take care of business...or the Twins, in this case. Minnesota beat Detroit Friday night by a 4-2 score, and that loss, coupled with the White Sox beating the Rays, moved Chicago to just a game behind the Tigers in the division. Drew Smyly pitched a decent game, but Ryan Doumit hit a two-run home run off of Phil Coke in the 7th, and then hit a two-run double off losing pitcher Brayan Villarreal, as Detroit saw its four-game winning streak end. Detroit will try and reduce its magic number on Saturday, 3:40 air time on 590 WKZO.
