BATTLE CREEK (WKZO) -- Sam Castanier of Battle Creek has been formally charged for his alleged role in a drinking game that resulted in the discharge of a firearm into the head of 34-year-old Nicholas Ulrich, killing him Wednesday night.

Castanier, who is also 34, has been charged with second degree murder and ordered held on $100-thousand dollars bond.

Police say they thought they could tell whether the gun would discharge by seeing where the bullet was in the cylinder of the revolver.  What Ulrich apparently didn’t know is that the bullet advances one slot just before it fires.
