SAN FRANCISCO (WKZO) -- The Lions were defeated Sunday night on national television by the 49ers. In a highly anticipated game due to last years handshake incident, the Lions looked outclassed on every side of the ball. The main problems boiled down to two key issues, Staffords inaccuracy and the Lions inability to run the football.
Calvin Johnson was double and sometimes triple teamed all game but the Lions QB still couldn't seem to spread the ball around to the other receivers. Stafford's passes floated high all game and he seemed a copy clone of last week. He finished the game throwing 19/32 for 230 yd with 1 TD and 1 INT. These past two weeks really start to make you wonder if Stafford is 100%.
The other huge issue the Lions faced was a non existent running game. Kevin Smith rushed for only 53 yards on 16 carries and seemed to get crushed at the line almost ever down. Running back Mikel Leshoure is returning next week following his two game suspension but is still unproven. Jahvid Best is still unable to practice with no return in sight due to his concussion like symptoms. With these problems who knows what lies ahead for this Lions running game.
The Lions head to Tennessee next week to face the 0-2 Titans Sunday at 1pm. The game will be on 1660 AM with coverage starting at 12pm.
