CLEVELAND, OH (1660 THE FAN) - Last season, Tigers closer Jose Valverde was perfect in save attempts. When he blew his first one this season in Detroit's first game, Tiger fans should have gotten the hint- it was going to be an interesting year. Cut to Sunday's series finale with Cleveland...the Tigers fought back to take a 6-5 lead...Valverde comes in...and the possible series sweep goes up in smoke, Papa Grande-style, as the Indians struck for two runs to claim a 7-6 win. Cleveland also takes the season series 10-8. Miguel Cabrera furthered his case for the MVP trophy with a 3-5 game, hitting a home run and driving in three. The loss was made more painful by a win by Chicago, which puts the Tigers two games behind the Sox. Detroit plays a make-up game in Chicago Monday afternoon, 1:45 air time on 590 WKZO.
