LANSING (WKZO) -- Legislation is pending before the state Senate to allow lottery winners of multistate games in Michigan to remain anonymous.
Right now, winners of the Powerball or Mega Millions must come forward publicly. The bill passed unanimously in committee Thursday, but is opposed by the Michigan Lottery Bureau.
Lottery officials say allowing winners to remain shrouded in secrecy could hurt ticket sales by taking away the publicity gained when the winner comes forward.
