WEST BLOOMFIELD (WKZO) -- The gunman who allegedly shot and killed a West Bloomfield police officer late Sunday night reportedly killed himself. Police say 50-year-old Ricky Coley was inside his home and had fired a shot, prompting his family to call police.
Family members were at the home to help Coley move back to North Carolina after he had been ordered to vacate the house. Officer Patrick O'Rourke was one of the first officers on the scene and entered the home after hearing a gunshot.
Police say Coley fired shots through the door and wall of a bedroom fatally injuring O'Rourke. Coley then held police at bay for nearly 20 hours before officers entered the home and found his body.
