LANSING (WKZO) --Governor Rick Snyder has ordered that U.S. flags on state buildings be lowered to half staff on Monday to honor Army Private Shane Cantu. The Army Private and graduate of Corunna High School was killed when he was caught in the blast from a roadside bomb on August 28th in Afghanistan.

In his order Snyder wrote ”Pfc. Cantu made the ultimate sacrifice in service to this country, and he will forever be remembered as a hero by the community of Corunna and the entire Great Lakes State. I extend heartfelt condolences to his parents, sisters and entire family during this time.”He was 20.
