Stafford redeems himself for early troubles, Lions win 27-23

DETROIT (WKZO) -- As the Lions drove down the field on the opening drive you couldn't help but think this game would be all Lions, but an interception on the 1 yard line by Janoris Jenkins changed that quickly.  When the pressue started to build early, Stafford threw two red zone interceptions.  Staffords throws seemed to be high all first half and he paid for it once with a pick 6 via the Rams Cortland Finnegan.

The game went on to be a nail biter as the teams entered the 4th knotted up at 13-13.  Bradford then drove his team 47 yards on 5 plays to put the Rams up 20-13 with 9:45 to go, which silenced the crowd at Ford Field.  Then in (current) Lions fashion, Stafford drove the Lions back down the field 80 yards on 5 plays finished off by a Kevin Smith 5 yard run.  As time ticked down in the 4th the Rams methodically used the clock and moved down the field, setting up a 46 yard Greg Zuerlein FG which was his his 3rd of the game.  When Stafford got the two minute drill call he struck quickly, hitting Calvin and Burleson for big gains to put the Lions in FG range.  With this offense you don't settle for a FG and Stafford threw a 5 yard screen pass to Kevin Smith for the game winning touchdown.

Even with Staffords early trouble he showed great poise to settle down and lead his team down the field twice late in the game.  He finished the day 32/48 with 355 yards 1 TD and 3 INT.  Calvin Johnson tacked on 111 yards of his own.  The Lions take on the 49ers 9/16 at 8:20pm in San Francisco.
