LANSING (WKZO) -- The campaign of Supreme Court candidate Bridget McCormack is responding to a new ad that blasts her for volunteering to represent terrorists at Guantanamo Bay. The ad features the mother of a Flint soldier who was killed in Afghanistan in 2010.
McCormack spokesperson Liz Boyd says it's "last minute mud-slinging by a special interest group outside of Michigan." However, Boyd did not deny that McCormack did volunteer to provide legal help to detainees at the facility in Cuba.
Published reports did find that McCormack was set to represent one man in custody, but could not get security clearances before the man was transferred from Guantanamo Bay.
