FOWLERVILLE (WKZO) -- A Delton, Michigan man is in a Howell Hospital recovering from a gunshot wound that police believe may have been fired by the random gunman who has been terrorizing the I-96 Corridor for the past two weeks.
Police first got a report from an 18-year-old that someone had shot out his rear window along I-96 near the Fowlerville Road exit. No one was hit, as in the previous 22 shootings.
A half hour later a bullet ripped thru the side door of his 24th victims car, thru his car seat and into his back side. The Barry County Driver at first thought he lost a tire. He pulled into a gas station and realized he had been shot.
Livingston County Sheriff Bob Bezotte says the gunman must have been positioned all the way across the divided highway to make that angle. It’s the first time the mystery gunman has actually hit anyone and they are pretty sure he will do it again. Twelve thousand dollars in reward money is available for information that leads to his capture.
They believe he is driving a 1988 Chevy Calvalier and using a 9mm or a 40 caliber weapon. The Delton man initially refused the trip to the hospital, saying he just wanted to be patched up so he would use his World Series Ticket. He is reported in good, if disappointed condition.
