DETROIT (WKZO) -- Fans of the Chevrolet Corvette were treated to a view of the new engine that will power the completely redesigned 2014 model.

The new 6.2-liter V8 engine is a major accomplishment according to engineers.  Officials say the 450 horsepower motor will have a "cylinder deactivation" system that will help with fuel economy.

The new Corvette will be unveiled in January a few days before the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
