COVERT (WKZO) -- A west Michigan man's been arrested on a number of drug charges.
The Van Buren County Sheriff's Narcotics Unit was conducting an investigation into cocaine trafficking in the 74000-block of County Road 376 Tuesday afternoon when they executed a search warrant at a residence, only to find that nobody was home. While they searched the residence, they noticed a suspicious vehicle roll by the home.
When Covert Police made a traffic stop, they found 28-year-old Antwonne Smith of Covert slouching in the passenger seat. After finding three grams of crack cocaine, some marijuana, and packaging materials in the residence, Smith was arrested on drug charges, as well as on outstanding warrants regarding child support in Van Buren and Kent counties.
A call was made to Child Protective Services, as well, because a child reportedly lived at the residence. Formal charges against Smith are pending.
