KENT, OH (1660 THE FAN) – Six turnovers marked the afternoon for the Broncos as they fell to Kent State on the road, 41-24.
Dri Archer found the end zone from 21 yards out giving the Golden Flashes the early 7-0 lead. Archer finished with 62 yards on 10 attempts and a pair of scores to Kent State.
On the Broncos second possession of the opening quarter, Tyler VanTubbergen hit Josh Schaffer for an 81-yard score to tie the game at 7. Aside from a 27-yard field goal from Andrew Haldeman, Western Michigan ended three drives with turnovers to end the first half. VanTubbergen finished 30-of-57 for 333 yards, a touchdown
Antoin Scriven opened the second half with back to back 1-yard scores giving Western a 24-17 lead. Scriven finished with 28 yards on 9 carries.
The Golden Flashes took advantage of three consecutive Bronco turnovers in the fourth quarter, including an 85-yard fumble return for a touchdown to seal the win at home.
Western falls to 3-5 on the season, 1-3 in MAC play. They return home next Saturday to welcome Northern Illinois. The Huskies routed Akron on the road today 37-7.
