UNDATED (WKZO) --The fall tradition in Michigan of visiting an orchard or cider mill is taking a hit this year.  As fall colors are peaking in southern Michigan and people are taking color tours, the farms have had to come up with alternatives.

The unusually warm spring and April frost that destroyed this year's crop of Apples has led to a drastic shortage this season.

The ability to pick your own apples doesn't exist at many local orchards, and cider prices have jumped to anywhere between 10 and 13-dollars a gallon.

Some orchards do have apples, either because they got lucky this spring, or because they imported them from elsewhere.

Gull Meadow Farms in Richland has created a maze that looks like Country Singer Alan Jackson and this month is featuring a giant pumpkin.

Michigan is normally the third largest apple producer behind Washington and New York, but not this year.
