LANSING (WKZO) -- There will not be any debates between incumbent U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow and Republican challenger Pete Hoekstra.
Stabenow's campaign says the former Congressman was trying to make the process political and cited more than two-dozen instances in which they said Hoekstra was grandstanding instead of accepting the two debates they had agreed to. One of those would have been broadcast on PBS stations statewide, while the other would be a non-televised debate before the Detroit Economic Club.
Hoekstra had pushed to have as many as six debates on network TV affiliates.
