PORTAGE (WKZO) -- The Portage City Council continues to make plans for its 50th anniversary celebration next year.
The committee of the whole working on the celebrations came up with an initial list of possibilities that include everything from an Anniversary Concert to a Commemorative addition of the “Portager” and a parade.
Mayor Peter Strazdas says they could make video recordings of those who were there 50-years ago when the city adopted its charter, perhaps find the financing for some public art or come up with a new city Logo and slogan. The Portage Historic Society suggested a tour of historic homes. There could be a display of historic photos in the lobby of City Hall, and flower beds shaped to commemorate 50 years. It’s a work in progress.
